Lindfield Place has been carefully designed to redefine later living for the over-65s. This exclusive development offers elegant, well-appointed homes with thoughtful features such as a residents’ lounge and landscaped gardens, to provide a welcoming sense of community.
At the end of February, we were delighted to host a gathering at Lindfield Place to celebrate the official opening of the rooftop residents’ lounge. It was a wonderful opportunity to welcome new residents and bring neighbours together. Two of the first residents to move in, Vee Barton and Peter Sindon, shared their stories with us, offering a glimpse into what makes Lindfield Place such a special place to call home.
Here’s what Vee had to say…
How did you come to choose Lindfield Place?
On 1st January 2025, I received an offer from someone who wanted to buy my house and when I went to search for homes to buy, this was the first property I saw. I thought it was meant to be. I moved into a two-bedroom apartment on the ground floor on 23rd January this year.
What were you looking for when you decided to move here?
The communal lounge was a huge factor. I’d met people who had said you could live in a block of flats for twenty years and never get to know your neighbours, and I didn’t want that.
Tell us a little bit about your apartment…
I’m so impressed with it. The kitchen’s wonderful. And very often in flats you get one big bedroom and a tiny second one, but both of mine here are big. I’ve never ever lived in a house with a south-facing garden, and my patio here is south-facing. I’ve sat out there in the sunshine with my cat, who seems very happy about our new residence. The patio is also close to the car park, so I see people arriving and they stop to chat.
Next, we spoke with Peter.
How did you come to choose Lindfield Place?
I have a benign brain tumour which may affect how I walk in two or three years’ time, so I wanted to live somewhere with a lift. My apartment here is on the second floor, and it’s rather pleasant.
Where did you move from?
Tarring, and I lived in Durrington before that. I used to work for Marie Curie, then I retired and now I do volunteer work, reading with five-year-olds at a local school. Some of them read better than newsreaders – seriously, they are fabulous!
How are you finding life at Lindfield Place so far?
We’re very happy with our accommodation. It’s very quiet, and as I’m nearly 80, I like the quiet! We moved in on 1st December and everyone here – especially Max – has been extremely helpful.
What do you think of the communal space?
It’s very nice! I think it’s important for people to have spaces where they can mix and socialise. You can just be here with a book, have a coffee, or sit outside. It’s a real sun trap in the afternoon so yes, I shall be enjoying it.
Vee and Peter’s experiences reflect what we hoped to achieve at Lindfield Place: creating homes where residents can enjoy their independence while being part of a connected community. From the well-proportioned apartments to the inviting communal spaces, every element has been designed to support an active, fulfilling lifestyle.
With 60% of the apartments at Lindfield Place now sold, there’s still an opportunity to join this thriving community. Whether you’re drawn by the thoughtful design, the accessible features, or simply the chance to be part of a neighbourhood where people genuinely connect, Lindfield Place offers a fresh approach to retirement living.
