We’re proud to announce that the latest recipient of our Union Gardens Community Fund is Sight Support Worthing, who will receive £600 to support their entry into the Big Give’s Christmas Challenge – the UK’s biggest collaborative fundraising campaign. Working on a match-funding model, the Big Give Christmas Challenge enables participating charities to have their donations doubled. Sight Support Worthing’s ultimate goal is to raise £10,000.
Sight Support Worthing is the town’s oldest charity; it began in 1910 when a small group of local residents formed a committee called the ‘Society for Befriending the Blind’. The committee raised money to help blind people living in the town at the time. Over the past century, the charity has grown far beyond its original remit, establishing a social club, providing residential care, and continually adapting its services to meet the changing needs of people living with sight loss.
In the year 2025-26, Sight Support Worthing delivered…
The charity anticipates that these figures will double in the year 2026-27. We are delighted to make this donation and support such important work.
